David Norris: Diversity of Thought & the People Around You
David Norris is an ACA qualified Finance Business Partner. He has built great relationships outside of finance and is always learning to scale businesses. His skill set includes strong communication and problem solving capabilities. With experience working directly alongside Global Senior Leadership in Innovation, Business Development, Strategy, Business Partnering, Consultancy and Finance within the UK and overseas he has a breadth of experience that he was able to draw upon when presenting to our audience of Finance professionals thinking about moving into the tech industry.
His talk: Diversity of Thought and the People Around You, was formulated based on reflection of the best thing he did for his career - "getting out of his finance box".
David says, "The founding principles of Finance apply in every company, in every industry. But it’s okay not to know what industry you want to go into. It's okay to explore! There is a reason that most grad schemes work on rotation."
David began his Finance career in Industry, in Audit, before moving to Consultancy, then Pharmaceuticals, then FMGC, then Banking and he now works in FinTech. His talk explores some of the main lessons learnt in the various industries he has worked within and how he transferred them when he moved.
