Position: M&A/Origination Lead
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)



I'm partnered with an emerging vertical market software permanent capital holding company based in Toronto, to find a dynamic M&A/Origination Lead. In this hands-on, full-stack role, you’ll work closely with the founder and CEO to source and execute software M&A transactions, working through the end-to-end cycle. This is a rare opportunity to join a company early on, play a key role in shaping its brand and culture, step into a leadership position, and start building your own team.


Key Responsibilities:

• Lead proprietary deal sourcing, including cold outreach (email, LinkedIn, phone calls, etc.).
• Add leads to the CRM and secure meetings with qualified leads and advance them through the pipeline.
• Issue NDAs and manage initial discussions with target companies.
• Collaborate with the founder in all facets of deal execution.
• Perform financial modeling and due diligence.
• Develop and execute strategies to help the company successfully establish a presence in the market.

Key Requirements:

• 4-6 years of experience in vertical market software deal originations + executing transactions.
• Proven track record of deal sourcing - cold outreach, pipeline management, issuing NDA’s and LOI’s (deals closed is a bonus).
• Strong fundamentals in executing M&A transactions – due diligence, financial modeling and analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple deals at various stages in the acquisition process.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders.
• Experience in team leadership – ensuring best practices and overseeing operations and strategy to junior employees.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently and thrive in a past paced, high-growth environment.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join the leadership team. Reporting directly to the CEO and Board, you will be a key driver in shaping the company's financial strategy and operational excellence. Your role will span financial oversight, business partnering, and strategic input to drive sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute financial strategies to support organic and inorganic growth, including M&A activity and integration.
• Operational Excellence: Build and optimize financial processes, systems, and controls to scale the business effectively.
• Performance Management: Establish and monitor SaaS-specific KPIs, providing actionable insights to improve business performance.
• Transaction Readiness: Lead the company through a successful exit process, preparing for due diligence and investor engagements.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted partner to the CEO, Board, and private equity stakeholders, providing clear financial reporting and strategic recommendations.

Ideal Profile
To excel in this role, you should bring:

• Proven experience as CFO or a senior finance leader in a private equity-backed SaaS business.
• A track record of driving both organic and inorganic growth, including M&A.
• Experience in scaling businesses and preparing for successful exits.
• Strong hands-on operational skills with a willingness to dive into the details when needed.
• Excellent financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of SaaS metrics and a deep understanding of subscription-based business models.
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities
